Starchildren and Auto-Immune Diseases
I have been helping Starchildren to heal their past and create the life of their dreams for over 21 years now.
If you are unsure whether you are a Starchild, you can read my blog on Starchildren by clicking this link to understand more. In short, Starchildren (also known as Star Seeds, Rainbow Children, or Indigo children) are part of a new generation of people (of any age) who possess a deeper level of connection to the cosmos, high levels of sensitivity and awareness, spiritual abilities, heightened intuition and higher levels of consciousness. They often experience unique life, relationship and health challenges, including a higher prevalence of auto-immune conditions, as well as a deep, soul need to search for the deeper truths in life. This blog post aims to explore the characteristics of Starchildren and how we as Starchildren can foster a better understanding of our life, our childhood experiences, the challenges we face as Starchildren in today’s world and the many challenges that face our health. I often remind clients that our bodies, our ‘earth suits,’ are made to house the spirit of non-Starchildren – our spirits hold a high frequency of light, therefore it is like buying a light fitting and lightshade from the shop but putting a 100watt lightbulb in it, when the shade is only made for a 40Watt bulb. In this situation, the brightness of the bulb will burn the shade. Therefore, before we have even started out in life, before we have any exposure to stress or toxins, our bodies are already compromised.
Many clients know they are Starchildren, they have already worked it out – perhaps when they were younger. For example, I realised I wasn’t from here at three years old! Many client’s report having the realisation at about 8 or 9 years old. Other clients that come to me tell me that ‘they have always suspected they were not from here’ or simply state that they don’t understand why they are different and have always been different – they just know that they are. Luckily, some Starchild clients (my client base is 95% Starchild!) come to me for healing sessions when they are young, say in their twenties, but many don’t find me until they are in their sixties or even older, which I feel is sad because they have missed out of so much life. But, as they say, better late than never!
The struggles of the Starchild – whether they understand why they are the way they are or not, are many and varied. I have written about the many challenges of the Starchild in my new book ‘A Starchild’s Guide to Life’ which will be available on Amazon towards the end of 2025. I also wrote a chapter on Starchildren in my 2012 book, ‘A Healer of Souls’ – also available on Amazon. There is a questionnaire in the book and on my website blog that might help you to decide if you have Starchild characteristics if you are unsure.
In order to delve into this subject, it is essential to understand what Auto-Immune disease entails. Generally, an autoimmune disease arises when the immune system for some reason starts to attack the body’s healthy cells, which can cause inflammation in various parts of the body or cause other symptoms such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, (painful inflammation of the joints), Lupus (a systemic disease affecting multiple organs in the body), Multiple Sclerosis, in which the nervous system is impacted, and Hashimoto’s Disease which affects the thyroid and a myriad of other conditions – that often confound the medical profession, or, appear to be ‘incurable’.
Of course anyone can suffer from an auto-immune disease, however in my 21 years’ experience of working with thousands of Starchild clients, I feel Starchildren are more susceptible to such conditions, and there are many reasons why.
The main reason I feel is that the Starchild often rejects themselves. They may suspect they are not from here, feel they are different etc, but they don’t want to be! They want to be just like everyone else! I was always very aware of who I was from a young age. I couldn’t understand a lot of things – why I had to have a body, why I had to eat food, why I had to get in a car to get somewhere instead of just ‘arriving there.’ My parents were both Starchild (although back then there wasn’t a term for it )– but still they didn’t really understand me. They would say to me, “Of course we have to drive six hours to Devon, how else are we going to get there?’ But I knew somehow that I could just intend to be somewhere and immediately arrive there, but this awful thing dangling off my head (my body) prevented all that. I hated eating, and was born without a suck reflex, which is the first human reflex. I already felt weighted down by my body, like I was literally dragging it around – why would I want to put food in it to make it even heavier? I knew I could live on light alone. My mother stuffed me with greasy mince meat and boiled potatoes, which were appalling to my taste. So very, very early on, the relationship with the body – and food -is challenged for the Starchild. This can lead into eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia, or at the very least a tendency to just eat anything to be full, (often Starchildren are carbohydrate addicts!) therefore neglecting the great need we have for superior nutrition and high vibration foods.
There are always two parts of us. The physical body, and the part of us that inhabits and animates the body – the soul, or spirit – whatever you’d like to call it. In order to be well, those two parts of us need to be happy, and work harmoniously together. But Starchildren often see the body as a weight, as a terrible cage, a prison almost, trapping them here. And that is never going to bode well for the immune system, because the body follows the mind. Those negative feelings towards the body do nothing to aid immunity – already a conflict has developed.
The popular axiom (an axiom is a statement that is regarded as being established, accepted or self-evidently true) ‘As above, so below, as within, so without.’ Meaning, whatever is going on in our inner world (our mind, spirit, soul, thoughts) will be reflected out – in this case not only into the wider world but also to our bodies. If there is fighting going on with our existence in the very core of ourselves (our mind or soul), then there will be fighting going on within the body. Everything is mirrored. And what fights in our body? Our immune system. It works hard every second of every day fighting against bacteria, viruses – a whole host of things. But when we turn against ourselves, the immune system turns against us also, and starts fighting healthy cells instead, and this in turn deepens into disease.
To give an example. As is probably clear from this post, I have always known I was a Starchild. I have known who I am, and I have done nothing to hide it. I acknowledged myself and accepted myself as a Starchild and embraced my differences over time. Eventually, after many years of struggle, I accepted my body as the vehicle through which I am to have a human experience on earth and did my best to respect it and try and give it what it needs. For example I try and take an hours walk daily, I do Pilates, I meditate, I try and watch the quality of what I am eating – for example I buy organic meat and vegetables where I can and I limit the use of processed food and try and make things at home, and I take my vitamins. I rarely drink, I use non-toxic shampoos and body washes, and I am careful what I have in the house – for example I do not burn toxic candles(I use Soy or beeswax candles) or use air fresheners. For many years I did these things for negative reasons – to try and stay well, because I truly hate being ill, but now I try and do these things as acts of self-love and love and respect for my body. (Trust me that journey has not been easy but I’m trying!). I am now over 60 years of age, and I do not take any medication or have any health issues apart from a dairy allergy which came on after my last run-in with Covid.
I coined the term ‘Starchild’ at three years old and decided that is what I was. I realised (with great shock) that my parents were both Starchild when I was 33 years old. I spoke openly about being different and tried to learn to live the way I needed to live – which came in very handy really, as I have spent my life helping Starchildren! I often spoke of being Starchild within the family. My brother denied it, even though he clearly was Starchild. He was unbelievably creative and had a singing voice straight from the Divine, but most of his life he struggled with his personal identity, often going through phases of dressing and acting like his favourite idol of the moment. I clearly remember him telling me, ‘I am not going to be like you, with all this weird stuff. I am going to be normal, just like everyone else. I’m not going to look into spiritual things, I’m going to dress like everyone else, eat like everyone else, live like everyone else. I’m just going to be normal. I don’t want to be different.’
As I have stated already, Starchildren are highly sensitive people living in a world that feels alien and very harsh to them. They are often normally incredibly gifted in some way or another. My brother struggled to find a career he liked, he hated being told what to do, he was frustrated when he was told he would have to train to be an opera singer from scratch – even though he could already sing ‘Nessun Dorma’ to Pavarotti standards, he then worked hard to forge a musical career in a band, struggled in relationships, but through it all, kept denying himself in his bid to be ‘normal,’ and eventually, his immune system gave out quite dramatically and very seriously, with a variety of auto-immune conditions, finally culminating in him needing massive doses of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. To be honest I am not totally sure how long he has been ill for, but I would say it’s at least 15 years now. I am aware of course that there are other factors at play with health, including genetics and lifestyle, but going against your true nature, your own beingness, is never really a good idea. Our spirits, our souls want to be accepted and loved. Our bodies want and need to be accepted, respected and loved.
I feel the axiom, “As above, so below, as within so without…’ sums up our human and spiritual journey perfectly, and it extends even further than we would possibly expect. For example, we don’t accept or love ourselves, but then we are surprised when someone else does not accept or love us. Given this axiom, this would be impossible anyway, because everything is mirrored, out, and in. It’s like a natural law and I have also seen evidence of this daily in my healing practice. What’s happening inside us, will be happening outside us. Also, we may be surprised when life or even the universe itself disappoints us in some way by not showing us love or acceptance. Remember, everything is a mirror, of your relationship with yourself. Therefore, in the simplest way, if you want your immune system to stop fighting you, (your healthy cells), you must stop fighting yourself, accept who you are and start standing tall. (This also applies to your sexuality). One of the best things you can do for your health is to be authentically, honestly you. And to do that, you must be willing to let go of your fear of not fitting in. Not fitting in is a primal fear, it is very deep and very strong because way back in the past, when we were living in cave dwelling communities or tribes, if we were disowned by the community, we knew we would probably die of exposure or starvation. We are not living in caves anymore. These days, if your friends turn their back on you, you can always make new friends, ones that accept you as you are. You are not going to starve, and you are not going to die. Starchildren have a huge tendency to people please, to need fit in, to be accepted – you must be courageous enough to let this go, and trust that the axiom works both ways – when you love and accept yourself, you will receive love and acceptance from others/life. And please bear in mind, you are not the only Starchild out there! There are thousands. Millions even. You can find people that are like you, that understand you. They will enjoy the things that you enjoy, things that the soul loves, art, beauty, nature, music, dance, meditation, yoga….seek and you will find! When you meet another Starchild, you will just know. You will feel at home with them, and feel totally understood. I have a mixture of Starchild and Non-Starchild friends and I am very happy about that. But the friends that just ‘get me,’ are Starchild.
Starchildren are normally highly sensitive – to pretty much anything – toxins, chemicals, gluten, dairy, food additives, planetary shifts, solar flares, the collective vibe, the news, the plight of others and world events – and there is nothing we can do about it other than eat well, get plenty of rest and do what we can to get through. For example, I have not watched the news now for about 35 years. Thanks to social media, I have an idea what is going on in the world, but I find if I watch the news I am deeply affected. I find Starchildren are normally highly tuned in to the world anyway and have little need for the news – for example I will never forget in the Summer of 1997 I was on uncontrollably. My friend came over to me to comfort me. I kept garbling, ‘Someone has died, someone I love,’ – at that time I thought perhaps my grandfather had passed away. She patted me on the back and reassured me that everything was ok and I had probably just had a bad dream. She went to the other side of the room to make me a cup of tea (the English cure for everything) and suggested I put the television on while I calmed down. I put the TV on. I was confused at first by the language and then realised that Princess Diana had died. I also had a huge reaction at the time the Twin Towers went down (which was quite embarrassing as I was working at a bank at the time). We know. Starchildren are tuned in to the world, affected by the collective energy. And this takes its toll on the body. Therefore, there is a far greater need to love and nurture our physical bodies as they are dealing with so much energy and information, all the time.
Starchildren and Auto-Immune Diseases – Diet – generally, I have seen that Starchildren tend to be low in iron, so do please get this checked with your doctor. Because of the shortage of iron (which makes us feel tired) Starchildren can tend to load up on carbs, which can then create Candida overgrowth, which is also not good for our health. If you are not sure how to create a balanced diet, do go and have a session with a nutritionist, who can help you.
Starchildren and Auto-Immune Diseases – Agitation, frustration, searching – Starchildren tend to feel burdened to ‘save the world,’ in some way. To single handedly find the cure for cancer, end poverty, create world peace. They will often drive themselves crazy searching for their ‘purpose.’ Your mission, as it were, is to be the light you already are. It is not the ‘What shall I do?’ that is important, it is ‘What shall I be.’ Everything comes down to our beingness. What are you ‘being’ while you are doing? While you are working, or being with friends or family? Are you radiant, bright, smiling? You don’t need to save the world, and you do not need to give up your job and become a healer, or run away from your job and family to go and meditate at the top of a mountain. Our spiritual path is there, in the every day, on the mundane. Normally, the thing that you are meant to do is the thing you love to do the most. If you can’t do what you love full-time, do try and at least make time for it in your spare time, and if you don’t have spare time, make it, somehow.
Starchildren and Auto-Immune Diseases – Meditation is a great aid to come into beingness, to relax and recharge the body. 15 minutes a day of simply focusing on your breath, or watching a cloud, or staring at a flower will calm everything down. Most people state that they can’t meditate, expecting to sit in mental tranquillity like a Buddhist monk. Very few people can do this! Just sit and observe the thoughts, – but don’t interact with them. For example, if the thought comes up ‘What shall I have for my dinner?’ Just let it go. Don’t start thinking ‘Mmm, chicken? Fish? What did I have yesterday..?’ It’s not about not having thoughts, it’s about just letting them pass, like clouds in the sky.
Starchildren and Auto-Immune Diseases – Community – many Starchildren feel isolated and alone. We all need people. You don’t need to go to a rowdy pub if that would be too much for you, but you might want to find a group of like-minded people – a meditation group, a book club, a walking club for example. Or find a new hobby! But leave the house and go out and be with people! And if you can’t find a local group – set one up!
Starchildren and Auto-Immune Diseases – The home – Keep your house clean, tidy and decluttered. Remember, everything is a mirror, if your house is in chaos, your body and mind will be chaotic too. More than anything with auto-immune conditions it’s important to reduce stress, and a messy house where you can’t find anything you need is very stressful! If you feel overwhelmed at the thought of decluttering, just do one drawer a day, or 10 or 20 minutes a day. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you make progress. Re-organise your home, and make it fun! I promise you it will feel so much better. There are lots of programmes and videos about tidying and decluttering.
Starchildren and Auto-Immune Diseases – Personal healing – Address your past and your healing needs – most of my Starchild clients state that they experienced traumatic childhoods. If your body is going wrong in some way, i.e., auto-immune conditions, or illness, your body is communicating to you – in the only way it knows how- that it is not happy, and something needs healing. Whether you have suffered trauma as a child or an adult, or even in a past life because unhealed past lives can also affect health – it is never too late to seek help and assistance in your personal healing. Your healing journey is always yours. No one can go on that journey for you, but we can hold the healing space for you to step into and guide you through it all. When I work with Starchild clients, I check them for over thirty different issues that can affect a person’s wellbeing. This includes checking their energy field for blockages in the chakras, seeing if their inner children need healing, seeing if anyone else has their energy, checking the energy of their home, looking for unhealed past lives, looking for negative subconscious beliefs that are causing blocks (for example, in order for a person to become well, they need to have the positive belief that it is safe for them to be well as many Starchildren use illness to hide away from the world, and this is not what you came here to do!). We also look to see if a client has suffered from soul loss or power loss, in which case we need to do power retrieval and soul retrieval in order to return a person to wholeness. There are articles on all these topics in the blog section of my website if you need more information.
In closing -seek to get to know yourself. Take time for yourself just to BE and to relax. Embrace who you are and do what you came here to do – just shine.
